Expressions of interest are now open for our 2019 (January – June*) Creative Development Program.

If you’re an artist or company with a new performance project to develop, Brunswick Mechanics Institute (BMI) is offering up to three weeks of free space, along with access to tech, production and industry support.

Selected projects will be able to use either the Studio or Theatre space and may choose to work in one intensive or across multiple blocks over the season.

Approximately 30% of projects chosen will be from artists who live in the City of Moreland.

Expressions of interest will be assessed against the following criteria: 

— High-quality, original concept
— Well-researched with a clear rationale
— Demonstrated social, cultural, political, environmental, personal relevance (why does this work need to be made now)
— Experimental, pushing artform boundaries, or innovating within a specific artform
— Where appropriate, considers cultural safety, environmental sustainability, access and inclusion

Expressions of Interest Due: 5pm, Wed 28 Nov 2018
Applicants Notified: No later than 14 Dec 2018

*We will run another application period for July – Dec 2019 development projects in May 2019.
